The Human Genome

Genetic research, its implications and its influence on our future has been an object of intense interest of mine for almost 20 years. How will this investigation impact reproductive choices? Who will be born? As what gender? And if gender differences are inborn, is there a point when biological determinism justifies inequality and social injustice?

The works submitted are intended not only to initiate contemplation and discussion of the myriad issues and ideas that surround our ability to map the Human Genome, but how the place of women figure into the biological equation. I combine scientific diagrams with archetypal images in an exploration of relationships between humans and nature through form and creative possibility.
