I originally went to India with the Marin County non-profit ( Corstone), to document the implementation of their Children’s Resilience Program. The program provides social-emotional, conflict management and other life skills training to youth in high poverty communities. Our focus was on a school of girls (ages 12 to 18 ) in 400- year -old Muslim community in the heart of New Delhi. The girls are the first generation in their family to obtain a formal education. Most of their parents are illiterate. I was also interested in the social and economical challenges these girls face beyond the walls of the school.
